From: Steven Flowers steve@alive-mediasoft.co.uk To: Amiga News team@amiga-news.de Subject: BIG Change Hello Amiga Friends, BYE-BYE AMIGA FORMAT With the fall of Amiga Format in the UK a lot of Amiga users around the world are left with nothing to read, and a lot of UK companies with nowhere to advertise. If I'm not mistaken, even Amiga Active appears to have limited it's games support with NO game reviews this issue. So, Alive are doing something about it.... The Pulse - the publication with more new game reviews than any other Amiga magazine is undergoing some changes.... ALIVE DROPS HARDWARE & SERIOUS SOFTWARE From May the 1st, Alive mediasoft (the publisher of The Pulse) has dropped all Amiga Hardware and Serious Software. They are dedicating their time to expanding their already unbeaten games software. Some of the smaller, more common utilities will still be available as well as mice and joysticks as always, but the decision to drop the serious software and hardware opens the doors for other Amiga conpanies to advertise their products in The Pulse. THE PULSE TO CARRY ADVERTS From issue 13 onwards, for a very small cost, Amiga software & harware companies can now advertise to 5,000 Amiga owners! READERSHIP DOUBLES - yes that's right, because of the advertising already taken out, they have been able to increase the monthly publication to a massive 5000 issues! Unfortunately, even though they've now doubled the readership, there will still be some disappointed Amiga owners as The Pulse is a FREE publication so there must be a limit on the number sent out. News of the available advertising space went out just seven days ago, and interest has been so good that Alive have decided to add a further 8 pages to The Pulse to accomodate without loosing any of the features you've already come to expect. They anicipate adding more and more pages over the coming months, but for now the adverts for issue 13 are:- Epic UK Eyetech Group Ltd. Digital Dreams Abel Gratis Marvel Comic (for Amiga X-Men) Titan Computers ALIVE GUARANTEE MORE GAME REVIEWS THAN ANYONE ELSE Not only have Alive added another 8 pages and now a glossy colour front cover, but they also give you a guarantee that The Pulse will carry more game reviews and more exclusive reviews than any other Amiga magazine out there. BRAND NEW COVER DISKS FOR THE PULSE The final peice in the puzzle has not been fitted with the introduction of cover disks for every issue of The Pulse. Subscription to The Pulse magazine will remain completely FREE and available with FREE POSTAGE to anywhere in the world. You can now also subscribe to The Pulse CD (P-CD), or The Pulse Cover Disk (P-FD) for a very small fee to cover costs:- *One-off copies will cost:* (Cover CD) P-CD: 3 per issue (Cover Disk) P-FD: 1.50 per issue *Special offer for 4 month subscription:* (Cover CD) P-CD: 10 (Cover Disk) P-FD: 5 *The Pulse Floppys on Issue 1:-* As a special introduction to the new cover disks, the very first month will feature Alive mediasoft's critically acclaimed RPG game "BLADE". The floppy disk version will normally be 2 disks per issue. However, issue one will come with FOUR floppy disks to accomodate all of Blade. *The Pulse CD on Issue 1:*- Quite simply a brilliant CD containing The full version of BLADE - CD edition. This includes the complete game as well as the full source code. And for all those of you who can't wiat for Alive's conversion of Elite 3, the cover CD will contain some brilliant new updates for Elite 2 with all sorts of new ships etc. There's also the exclusive preview tralier of Phantasmagoria and a fully playable demo of Heretic 2. There's a brand new demo of Descent 2 PPC Warp 3D and a demo of the X-Men for Quake Every month the CD will be jam-packed with 650mb of full games, demos, game updates and some great serious software. HARDWARE AND SERIOUS SOFTWARE REVIEWS The Pulse is primarily a games magazine, but does have four pages dedicated to serious software and Amiga hardware, so there's something of interest for every type of Amiga user. Because of the new advertising and the more magazine-like feel to The Pulse, Alive have promised to tone down the controversy (especially Steven's Final Word!). Sorry to all the readers who enjoyed this, but it's not to everyone's liking apparantly.
